Deep Tissue Massage in Marble Falls, TX

Deep tissue massage is slow, sustained, firm-pressure bodywork that reaches the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release chronic patterns of tension. It works within a comfortable "good-hurt" range — never brute force — using stripping, cross-fiber friction, and sustained trigger-point holds. Research suggests deep tissue work may meaningfully ease chronic neck, shoulder, and low-back pain and support recovery for many people, especially over a short course rather than a single visit.

03 — What to Expect

Your visit, step by step

01

Before

Julie identifies the tension pattern and screens for anything that calls for lighter work, then warms the tissue with 5–10 minutes of Swedish strokes so the deeper work releases rather than guards.

02

During

She works slowly at a client-reported 4–7 out of 10 "good hurt," cueing you to exhale into the pressure and easing off if you tense. Expect focused time on the muscles driving your pain, not just the sore spot.

03

After

Mild soreness over the next 24–48 hours is normal and resembles post-exercise soreness; it usually fades by 72 hours. Hydrate, move gently, and use warmth or an Epsom-salt soak to ease it.

Deep Tissue Massage questions

01Does deep tissue massage have to hurt to work?

No. The therapeutic window is a client-reported 4–7 out of 10 — firm enough to reach deep tissue, but not so intense that you guard or hold your breath, which actually re-tightens the muscle. Pressure beyond that is counterproductive.

02Why am I sore the next day?

Post-treatment soreness is normal and self-limiting — mechanistically similar to exercise soreness. It typically peaks at 24–48 hours and resolves by about 72 hours. Hydration, gentle movement, and moist heat help; soreness lasting longer means the next session should be lighter.

03How often should I come for chronic pain?

Single sessions give temporary relief, but lasting change usually needs a short course — many people do weekly for four to six weeks, then taper to maintenance. Pairing it with stretching, posture work, or acupuncture tends to hold the results longer.

04Who should avoid deep tissue work?

Deep tissue is not appropriate with acute injury or inflammation, blood clots (DVT), certain blood-thinner use, severe osteoporosis, or active cancer at the site without clearance, and it is modified in pregnancy. Share your history so Julie can screen and adapt or refer.
